Ro surveyed their surroundings. He could see lights in the distance. Probably the train station.
This wasn't exactly the countryside. In the darkness, there were quite a few buildings lining the way that didn't have lights on. There just weren't any people. That was another way that this place resembled a graveyard.
Tokyo. Odaiba.
Thanks to a mistake by the Coastal Subcenter of Tokyo Development Agency, this area had been transformed into a coastal town. During the day, there were people around, but right now, in that time when one day was about to become the next, you wouldn't even see a dog.
The nightless city... To the two of them, coming from Hong Kong, the darkness was like a joke.
Why was the transaction taking place somewhere like this? Ro just didn't understand it.
"Probably the seller is Japanese," Go whispered indifferently. Now that he mentioned it, that was probably true. The Japanese were the most likely people in the world to waste money.
"Let's get this over with."
"Yeah..."
Ro took an attache case from the backseat. It was abnormally thick.
Go once again looked up at the building. The building had about 40 stories.
Near the top, around the middle of the 30s, a band of light wrapped around the building. It was the only place where the lights were on.
"Shit."
